Poets in the Public Square

An Enemy of the People

What happens to a play after the curtain falls?

Sometimes, it becomes a poem.

For Poems from the Public Square, Wild Bloom Poetry and New City Players invite a group of local poets to experience a theatrical production and write whatever the experience stirs up.

The poems find their way into the theater lobby, where audiences encounter them alongside the play that inspired them.

This November, we're responding to An Enemy of the People, Henrik Ibsen's 1882 play about truth, power, and the uncomfortable business of standing against the crowd.

On November 28, the poets return to share their work live after the performance.

Come for the play. Stay for the poetry. See what happens when the conversation continues beyond the stage.

November 28 | 8 PM
Island City Stage, Wilton Manors

The poetry reading is included with your theater ticket.
